Maggie’s Centre @ St Barts

American architect Steven Holl has unveiled his Magies Centre for cancer patients in London, featuring a facade of translucent white glass dotted with coloured panels. Imagined by New York-based Holl as a “vessel within a vessel within a vessel”, the luminous Maggie’s Barts features a concrete frame, a layer of bamboo and a skin of matt glass. It is located at St Bartholomew’s Hospital to the northwest of the City of London – a facility that was founded in the 12th century, making it the oldest hospital in Britain.

We worked closely with Steven Holl architects http://www.stevenholl.com/and their UK based architect JM Architects to develop the use of our bamboo for most of the interior fit-out. It was a long journey but the results speak for themselves and we are proud to have been involved in such an important building.
